Constance “Connie” Ryan, 79, died peacefully on March 21, 2024, embraced by the love of her attending family.
Constance was born November 22, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Alex and Neta (Jones) Slotowski. On July 17, 1965, she married John “Jack” Ryan. Together they raised their five children.
She attended Millikin University to study violin and enjoyed performing in pit orchestras and quartets. Later in life, Connie went on to become a Registered Nurse, a career of which she was very proud. She and Jack raised, trained, and showed Saddlebreds and ponies. Two of their horses showed at the Illinois State Fair. She was a collector of Ginny and Nancy Ann dolls. Connie was a gifted quilter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Ryan and her children, John (Zech) Ryan, Patrick (Deann) Ryan, Laura (Peter) Claude, Michael “Jamie” (Holin) Ryan and Sarah (Malachy) Cross; by her grandchildren, Jason (Jillian), Sonja, Richie, Robby, Maggie, Joe, Elizabeth, Alex and Maebh; as well as by her great-grandchildren, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Callie. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Connie’s family wishes to express their profound gratitude and appreciation to all the medical, pastoral and nursing staff who guided them through this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4-7pm at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 10:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. The burial will be at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Connie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Operation Smile.

Connie and I worked together many years ago and shared an interest in music. She was so bright, so talented, and lots of fun. I'm so sorry for your loss and can imagine how much she will be missed.
