John Russo, 88, of Huntley, died peacefully, March 23, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
John was born January 2, 1936 in the Little Italy neighborhood on the West of Chicago, the son of Carlo and Rosina Russo He served in the United States Army at the missile base. On April 13, 1958 he married Frances Bullard, the couple met at the Catholic Youth Summer Camp where John was a volunteer. He was a chemical engineer for the city of Chicago.
He helped run his family-owned lemonade stand in Vernon Park. He was an artist and won a scholarship at the Art Institute . He loved playing racquetball and handball with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances, his children, John Russo and Deana Russo and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Madeline(William) Crissie, Vito (Colly) Russo, Carmella Perino, Dominic (Mary) Russo and Mary (Morris) Lamontia.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 12:30 until the time of the 1:30pm Mass all at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. The burial will be at Huntley Cemetery.
