Scott J. Brendel, 68, of Huntley, died peacefully on March 23, 2024, in his home.
Scott was born in Chicago on February 25, 1956, to parents Joseph and Alice (nee Reynolds) Brendel. After meeting at St. Benedict high school, he ran into Jean Knudsen following their graduation and knew she was the one. The couple were married on April 3, 1976, and spent many wonderful years together. Scott loved spending time with his family, and they enjoyed many family vacations and road trips together. His grandchildren were fondly known as “His Mighty Five” and he treasured spending time with them. He often played baseball with them and was a proud fan of the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing cards with his friends. He was a kind and compassionate man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jean Brendel, his children, Jennifer (Aaron) Mitchell, Scott Brendel, and Jeffrey (Yoomi) Brendel, “The Mighty Five” grandchildren, Harvey, Juniper, Evan, Hudson, and Evelyn, his brother, Paul (Mary) Brendel, Jean’s siblings, Kay (Jim) Kelly, Lois (Russ) Wingert, Nancy Knudsen, Bill (Michelle) Knudsen, and Mary (George) Howe, many loving nieces and nephews, and his closest friend, Jim Vogel.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 9 a.m. to time of Mass 10 a.m. all at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
