David S. Hicks, 76, of Huntley, died peacefully at his home on April 3, 2024, surrounded by his family.
David was born March 13, 1948, the son of Dave and Ann Hicks. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Lois (nee Kula), his daughters, Lauren (Jeff) Schubert and Erika Carbajal, his grandsons, Jake, Grayson and Noah, his brother, Robert, his sister, Vicki Williams, his nephew, Don Johnson, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dave was a licensed electrician by trade but was known as the guy that could fix anything and was willing to help anyone, a handyman to many that made friends wherever he went.
Dave took pride in passing his mechanical knowledge on to his kids and grandsons in their home projects. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in their favorite sports, particularly hockey and football. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed spending time at the family home in Presque Isle, WI, fishing, hunting, boating, and enjoying the outdoors. He was an amateur radio operator with connections all over the world. One of Dave’s great loves was his Dobermans that he raised and adored. His greatest joy was his family, especially his beloved grandsons. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
