Nancy K. Thurow, 70, of Huntley, formerly of Gurnee and Mount Prospect, died peacefully on April 8, 2024, at Northwestern Hospital Huntley.
Nancy was born in Chicago on August 23, 1953. She met John Thurow while working together and the couple quickly fell in love. They were married on September 8, 1985, and spent many wonderful years together.
Nancy loved to cook, and her excellent meals were just one of many reasons that John fell in love with her. She was very active in her community, volunteering with Friends of the Marengo-Union Library District and the Marengo Food Pantry. She was kind and understanding with a gentle smile. Her friendly personality attracted many friends and people were always opening up to her. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, John Thurow, and many wonderful friends.
Cremation was private at DeFiore Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nancy’s name can be made to the Friends of the Marengo-Union Library District https://muld.org/friends-of-the-library/

Dear John, Receive a very warm and loving embrace from us. The love you had for her and that you'll continue to have, will only grow stronger. If we may, we would like to say to you that you can really continue showing your love for her by how you choose to live the rest of your life. You'll be sad for a while but you'll also be happy during those precious moments of remembering your time with her. Don't give up on still wanting to enjoy life and on looking forward to getting up every morning. Life is an impermanent reality and it is always up to us how it will turn out. Every day that we get to wake up we see as both a gift and an opportunity to honor that gift. Honor your time with her, your memories of her, your many enjoyable moments with her by simply being present with the love you both enjoyed. Hang in there John, look forward to the rest of your life knowing there really is no end, but a continuation of the adventure you started together. Love, Jaime and Rosa!!!
