William James Callahan, died peacefully at home, on May 2, 2024.
William was born May 13, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leo and Doris Callahan. He was united in marriage to Louise on November 10, 1956. The couple made their home in Chicago and later Hanover Park where they raised their family before moving to Schaumburg. Bill worked as a banker for First National Bank. Family was the center of his life, and he could be found attending all the children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He loved spending time in Door County with his wife, Louise. He enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, doing puzzles and his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren. The couple moved to Huntley in 2003.
William is survived by his sons, William (Vicky) Callahan Jr., Timothy (Tammy) Callahan, Patrick Callahan, his daughter, Janine (Steven) Kaminski, his grandchildren, Brianna, Caitlin, Colleen, Amy, Daniel, Shannon, Teigan, Kevin, Noah, Justin & Kaci. His great-grandchildren, Will, Lili, Madison, Leia, Caiden, Kinleigh, Sean, Shannon, Avery, Riley, Trinity, Kara, & Paetyn, and his brother, James Riley (Beverly) Callahan. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel and wife, Louise.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the DeFiore-Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be later in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
