Mary Trodahl, wife of Chris Trodahl, died peacefully at home on May 7, 2024, and is now in heaven with God and her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Myrtle Hanson and sister Joanne Negstad. Mary is survived by her husband Chris, three children Tonia Sulman, Nathan Trodahl and Kari Hartman, and her brother Mark Hanson. Mary is also survived by nine grandchildren: Paul, Meredith and Erik Sulman, Ren and Christine Trodahl, and Jake Jr., Henry, Luke, and Jillian Hartman.
Mary grew up in Minneapolis and was able to spend a year plus in Norway. After returning home Mary attended Concordia College, graduating with a Teaching Degree. Mary created strong lifelong friendships with several fellow classmates that have lasted over sixty years.
On July 23, 1969, Mary and Chris married: the beginning of a life of love and happiness that lasted fifty-five years.
Mary loved teaching the lower elementary grades in several states, retiring in Bethel, Connecticut. During their thirty plus years in Bethel, Mary and Chris made friends that became family while raising Tonia, Nathan, and Kari. Mary found time to volunteer with educational, community and church organizations, which has continued throughout her life.
During retirement, Mary and Chris moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, and they were able to spend time with family, travel the US, enjoy bus tours in Canada, river cruises in Europe and a safari in Southern Africa.
During her 84 years, Mary loved her family, her life, her friendships, and all that that involved.

I met Mary during Bible study classes when Pastor Bill was offering them and I found her to be very interesting because she often spoke of her time teaching and the experiences that she had in another state. I found her to be a very personable, quiet woman, and I am sorry for Chris’s loss, peace and love to the family
I am so blessed to call Mary a friend, but she was considerably more to my family and me. The Trodahls are family by choice, and Mary will be missed fiercely. Sending love to the Trodahl’s, Hartman’s, Sulman’s, Hanson’s, and all fortunate to love her.

Mary, we won’t forget you! Thank you for the support during the time we were your neighbor in Bethel! We will pray for you! RIP
So sorry to read about Mary’s passing. I am one of the seven friends from Concordia days going back to 1962. Many fond memories of the Hanson family. May God’s comfort continue to be with the family. Much love from the other Mary.
