Nick Paul LaCoppola, Sr. 85, of Elgin, died peacefully, May 7, 2024 with his family by his side.
Nick was born October 31, 1938 in Italy, the son of Achille and Jessica LaCoppola. He worked for the City of Chicago as a laborer until his retirement in 2012. On December 17, 1978 he married JoAnne J. Fecarotta.
Nick was larger than life and always did things his “way.” He was devoted to his family and his grandchildren were his greatest joy. He enjoyed sharing his Italian traditions with his family. He enjoyed coffee with his friends, enjoyed a good slot machine and could be found sitting outside soaking up the sun. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne LaCoppola, his children Nicole Fanucchi-LaCoppola, Nick, Jr.(Denise) LaCoppola, Joseph (Andrea) LaCoppola, Christina LaCoppola Melone, and Lori LaCoppola his siblings, Joseph LaCoppola, Alfonzo LaCoppola, and Frances Kruzel 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his children, Jessica, and Carmine, by his siblings, Maria, Angie, and Nanine.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 3-6pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL.
