Kimberly Elfriede Munro, 63, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully after a tremendous third battle with cancer on May 19, 2024.
Kimberly was born in Evanston on November 2, 1960, to parents Emmerson and Elfriede (nee Schwerdtfeger) Munro, Sr. She attended Belding Elementary, Carl Schurz High School, Northeastern Illinois, and she earned her BA from Augustana and her MA from Webster University. Her career ranged from Discover Card sales support to a hospitality coordinator for Marriott and other hotels. Kimberly was an accomplished pianist, organist, and oboist. She was also a choral participant, loved Karaoke and was the hospitality queen in her family.
She loved everything Disney and would often call it the happiest place on earth. Now she gets to be in the happiest place with her Lord and Savior. Kimberly loved life and cared for everyone she met. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Kimberly is survived by her siblings, Carol (the late Peter) Galliett, Emmerson “Bill” (Lynn) Munro, Geoffrey (Patricia) Munro, and Bonnie (Steve) Lill, her nieces and nephews, Kate (Josh) Madsen, Jennifer (Gene) Larken, Sarah (Joe) Haka, Christina (Josh) Edwards, Jeremiah Lill, Jared Munro, Alec Munro, and Amanda (Chris) Furno, her great-nephew, Aidan, and a multitude of godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Peter Galliett, her great nephews, Anthony and Paker, her great-niece, Addison, and her beloved pets, Trevor and Buddy.

My condolences to your family! Kim was an awesome lady. We both attended Belding Elementary and I have had the enjoyment of running into her on a few occasions in the ensuing years. May her memory be a blessing to your family!
So sorry to read of Kim’s passing. We were classmates at Belding, she was always so kind and fun. May the wonderful memories of her help Kim’s family and friends get through the difficult times.
Much sympathy to all who knew Kim. What an awesome, interesting individual. Her musical talents through St. Mark Lutheran Church brought us together. Rest in peace, kiddo
I met Kim in the early '90's when we worked at Discover Card. We had a lot of laughs and lunches there along with country line dancing with friends like Thuryle and Jill at Sundance. Kim was always a hoot! After I married in '93 we got together occasionally for lunch. On one occasion we had left the restaurant and in the turn lane at the same time. I looked over to wave and she had put on these huge yellow sunglasses! I laughed the whole way home and it makes me smile to this day remembering her laugh, joy, love of God and good-natured friendship. I have moved to St Louis but we kept in touch via Facebook and I prayed for her when she posted these the past few months, during dark days but still a positive outlook. So, Kim, " Keep smiling and singing praises in your heavenly home till we meet again in God's glory!"
I just heard from a mutual friend of Kim's passing. Of all days to hear this sad news, today being my 30th wedding anniversary where Kim played the organ and sang for us. So talented and what a smile and a love of life. May she rest in peace and our sincere condolences to the family, our hugs and love to you Jeff and Trish.
