Wolfgang Johann Hausner 1934-2024, 89, of Huntley, IL
Wolfgang Johann Hausner was born in 1934, in Germany. Wolf touched everyone he knew with his humor and extravagant generosity. He was described by his late wife of 52 years, Alice Marguerite “Margie” Hausner as the most different man she had ever met, by his sister in-law a titan, to the rest of us grieving larger, ‘than life’! He was preceded in death by his mother Gertrud Hausner, father Johann “Hans” Hausner, a sister & brother-in-law Christa & Rich Ralston; brother-in-law, Don Weinberg and son-in-law Ronald South.
Wolf grew up under Hitler’s reign in Germany. During WWII, the Russians invaded his town. Wolf’s family fled East Germany to West Germany, in a traumatic series of events, which led to their family being shot at during their attempt to cross the border. Once safely, in West Germany Wolf’s father pursued the American Dream for his family and they immigrated to the United States in the early fifties. Wolf was drafted as a non-citizen into the Army and ultimately earned his US citizenship. His fierce work ethic and “can do” attitude took him from refugee to business owner.
Wolf met his beloved Irish wife, Margie, at a roller rink. Her version of their love story was he ran into her while skating and knocked her down, however he claimed she fell for him. They welcomed four children in 3-1/2 years while building their business Hausner Hard Chrome, Inc. Margie passed away in 2013 and he was left to cherish her memory along with their children Heidi South of Spring Hill, FL, Dave (Julie) Hausner of Aurora, IL, Jeff (Lois) Hausner of Owensboro, KY, and Linda (Scott) Butler of Prescott, AZ.
Wolf treasured spending time with family, traveling, flying, gardening, reading, working hard, and proving naysayers wrong when told it can’t be done in his business. He was thoughtful and often sent random care packages and gifts to family and friends. He was the man with the plan and there was never a dull moment in his presence.
He will be missed by those that call him Papa Ashley (Casey) Lanius, Kory (Meghan) Hausner, Lyndsay (Ben Kenny) Hausner , Kristen (Tim) York, Ryan (Kelly) Fischer, Derek (Sara) Coe, Sean (Lily) Coe, Kira (Kate) South, Bryce Butler, Ethan (Brittany) Butler, Isabel (Eric) Whiteside, Grace Butler, Olivia Butler, Addison Hausner, Maci Hausner and Levi Hausner, and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters Helga Hausner and Ursula Weinberg, loyal friends and in-laws Bernie & Ed Mokijewski, dear friend Egon Babler, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 4 – 7 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home 10763 Dundee Road, Huntly, IL, also from 10-11 am on Friday, June 14th. Chaplain Julian Sandoval will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. with a burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huntley, IL.

Heartfelt condolences to the Hausner family. As a customer of his business, I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of their innovation and dedication. Wolfgang’s legacy will continue to inspire and benefit many.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Wolf on at least two occasions. What a great man with a huge heart who really believed in helping people. I felt honored to be in his presence. He shared much with me about his life. He overcame much hardship before coming to the US and worked very hard to start a successful business. I was privileged to work there for 5 1/2 years and participate in some way in the legacy he leaves behind. I was blessed to make many friends as a result. I’m praying for Dave and Jeff and their families during this time of loss
Our sincere condolences to Heidi Dave Linda & Jeff and extended family and friends on the passing of your Dad Wolf. I remember Uncle Wolf as a larger than life character who loved family parties when he visited Ireland. May he rest in heavenly peace.
Where do you begin when honoring such a great person. Wolf took me under his wing in 1989 and my respect and admiration has grown everyday since. Lavina and I send Love and Prayers to the entire Hausner family, peace and comfort will be with you.
I got to meet Wolf as a teenager. Working in his garage with Jeff on an old Chevy Nova and Wolf came out an reminded us of what a turd the car was, and how Jeff needed to get something more practical, and reliable. I wonder if he meant the huge station wagon we called the "460 Rolling Pin"? Years went by and I came to work for the family at Hausner Hard Chrome. In my many roles there over 17 years, my favorite time was in sales. Calling Wolf for advice on what we could plate, and how we would do it. His enthusiasm and willingness to not only TRY to solve a customers wear issues, but actually exceed their expectations was very appreciated. His presence in the office was appreciated and intimidating. He would push "out of the box" thinking. You knew to listen carefully, because if you missed a few words through his thick German accent, it may come back to bite you. I know Wolf loved his family, and all those that he adopted into it at Hausner Hard Chrome. A great innovator, inventor, craftsman, leader, and generous businessman. Rest in the Eternal peace he knew was promised him. Not by his deeds, but by his faith.
Sorry for your loss wolf was a great man I have a lot of experience in chromium over my 25 years working with him thanks to him may God bless his family descanse en paz lo extranaremos.
Where do i start. I met Wolf 35+ years ago on one of his trips to Kentucky. Wolf would always get into Owensboro and come into the plant and check on things, and it didn't matter what time it was. Through the years, I would go up and work at the IL plant on many occasions. Wolf was always there to support me. He would always take time from his day to make me and whomever was up there helping feel welcomed. We would go to lunch, dinner, or downtown tours. He told me many stories to include how he started out Hausner Hard Chrome. I could call Wolf on any problems we ran into, and he always knew the fix to make it right. Wolf will be greatly missed, and I will be praying for the Hausner family. He is such a great man, a hard worker, and an inspiration to others.
We are very heartbroken about the unimaginable loss and sorrow you are experiencing. Our sincerest condolences to the whole family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our sincere condolences to the whole family of our friend and neighbor Wolf. We are sadden by his passing and will remember our many pleasant exchanges curbside as we both collected our mail and talked of family and things that made us smile. We also enjoyed an occasional lunch together at the clubhouse and laughed and were surprised at the tenacity of the local birds and their desire to find a way into our house vents. Besides being a great neighbor Wolf was always a cheerful friend. He will be missed by all.
