Giuseppe Lima, 87, of Lake in the Hills, died peacefully in his home on June 30, 2024, with his family by his side. Giuseppe was a very passionate and loving man. He adored his wife, his three daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Giuseppe was born in Sicily on November 26, 1936, to parents Giuseppe and Benedetta (nee Giangrasso) Lima. As a young man in Sicily, Italy he was a bricklayer. When he came to the United States, he was a Concrete Mason. He was a very hard worker, with no time for rest, he just kept going to provide for his family. He loved riding and taking care of horses when he was young, and later he enjoyed riding motorcycles and all types of cars.
Giuseppe loved dressing up and looking his best, as he was a very handsome man. His hair had to be just so.
He loved making wine, homemade tomato sauce, and eating cannoli with espresso.
Every home he lived in had to have a big garden to tend to, and he did so with such pride and passion. He enjoyed watching western movies, especially if John Wayne was in them. One of his favorite movies was The Godfather since it took place in his hometown of Sicily.
Giuseppe will be remembered as a loyal husband, loving father and grandfather. His smile that lit up the room will be missed most of all.
Giuseppe is survived by his beloved wife of 6o years, Maria Lima, his daughters, Benedetta “Betty” (Frank) Calabrese, Dorotea “Dora” (Frank) Diciolla, and Giuseppa “Josephine” (Tommy) Tamoj, his grandchildren, Salvatore (Sarah) Calabrese, Joseph (Cristina) Calabrese, Mariella Calabrese, Vito Diciolla, and Marianna Diciolla, his great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Luca, Gianna, and Vincenzo, many nieces and nephews, and Maria’s family.
