Obituary

(1934-2024)
Jack Etheridge died on July 24, 2024 at his home in Pingree Grove, IL at the age of 89 years. He was born in Mounds, IL on November 20, 1934 to Fred Etheridge, Sr. and Ollie Etheridge (Deckard) near their native home in the vicinity of Cairo, IL as the last of five children. When he was two years old he moved with his family to Chicago. He attended Lane Technical High School and studied music during his time there. After high school he took courses at the Univeristy of Illinois at Navy Pier and DeVry Tech. He then served in the USAF for four years loading and servicing atomic weapons for SAC bombers in Florida and Guam. After honorable discharge from the air force he took on careers in electronic and stationary engineering fields.
On June 8, 1963, he married Judith Albertz. They had two boys together: Gary and Glen. Jack served the Lord his entire adult life in Assemblies of God churches throughout northern Illinois. He enjoyed teaching and music ministries but his particular passion was in building planning and construction. Jack was also an avid railroad buff. He constructed two large HO scale model railroad layouts in two houses and fulfilled a dream of firing steam locomotives at the Illinois Railway Museum.
Jack and Judy spent considerable time caring for their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers Fred Jr (Fay), Norman (Enola), Paul (Louise), and sister Betty (Jim) Stark. He is survived by his wife Judith, sons Gary (Michelle), Glen (Leslee), grandchildren Andrew (Irie), Brandt (Calis), Isaac (Shauni), Samuel, Clara, and a great grandchild Mavis. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9-11 with a services held,Saturday, August 3, 2024, 11am all at Church on the Rock, Huntley, IL and burial will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. Donations to Church on the Rock are encouraged in lieu of flowers.

Jack was a great man he will be missed. Our condolences Judy, Glen and Gary and all the ethridge family. So sorry we missed his service we were out of town.
