Steven J. O’Connell, 79, of Huntley died peacefully October 3, 2024.
Steven was born on July 31, 1945, the son of Steven and Virginia O’Connell (Kotas). On June 18, 1966 he married Kathleen Fitzpatrick. He worked in the building trades and was a sheet metal worker for over thirty years. He enjoyed Italian food, Frank Sinatra, and good wine. He was a loving husband, father, papa, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen O’Connell, his children, Steve, Karen (Greg) Kula and Bob (Rana) O’Connell, by his four grandchildren Steve, Stephanie (Austin), Ryan and Allison. He is also survived by his sister, Patty (Sam) Dindia and Michael (Gerri) Kotas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 9:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road. The burial will be at Huntley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lupus Foundation.
