Margaret “Marge” Jean Zilinsky, age 85, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024.
Born February 13, 1939, in Chicago to Joseph and Ann Neff, Marge dedicated her life to serving others, with a nursing career that she concluded with 25 years of compassionate service at VA Hines Hospital as an OR Nurse. Later, she became a beloved presence at Christ the King Church, working as a secretary and always sharing her warmth and kindness with everyone she encountered.
Marge was a trailblazer in her youth, pursuing a nursing career at a time when few women were encouraged to do so. Her deep faith guided her life, and her granddaughters fondly referred to her as "the holiest person they knew." Family was at Marge’s very core, and she embraced her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend with an open heart and a ready smile. In her final months and days, her beloved husband Frank cared for her with unwavering devotion, embodying the love they shared across their 55 years together.
Marge is survived by her husband Francis; her children, Laura (Jack) Melvin and David Zilinsky; her cherished granddaughters, Ava and Aubrey; and her sister, Mary Breinig. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12 to 1 pm at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm. For more information, please contact the funeral home at 847-515-8772, or visit www.defiorefuneral.com for online condolences.
