Maxine Nowakowski, 76, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 19, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Eugene and Lorraine (Poradzisz) Karcinski.
She married Robert Nowakowski on May 27, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. Before his passing in 2007, Robert and Maxine enjoyed 40 years together.
Maxine attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley. She had many interests, including traveling (specifically Spring Mill in Indiana and Costa Rica), cross stitch, gardening, spending time in nature, and staying active. Maxine had a passion for animals, especially birds. In addition to keeping several pet birds over the years, she also volunteered at the Greater Chicago Cage Bird Society. But her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Maxine went to great lengths to stay in touch and preserve family connections. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was well loved and will be deeply missed.
Maxine is survived by her four daughters, Bonnie Nowakowski, Dawn Nowakowski, Robin Nowakowski, and Mindy (Tim Duffy) Nowakowski, and her bonus daughter, Brandi Heuer; her beloved grandson, Steven Broussard; her sister, Patricia DelCarlo; and her brother, Michael Karcinski.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
