Gregory Paul Mecozzi

Obituary

Gregory Paul Mecozzi, 64, of Rolling Meadows, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024.

He was born August 27, 1960 in Peru, Illinois, the son of Gerald and Gerene (Chapman) Mecozzi.

Gregory grew up in Mount Prospect and attended school at Clearbrook. Eventually, he moved to Clearbrook full-time to live as a resident. He was a passionate music fan, and frequently sang for his loved ones. He especially loved singing theme songs, jingles, and Christmas carols. Even from childhood, Gregory found peace in long car rides. He could spend hours watching the scenery on family trips to Wisconsin and Minnesota. He saw the beauty in life’s simple joys, like fireworks and Christmas lights, and never turned down a soda (especially a Pepsi). He was well loved and will be deeply missed.

Gregory is survived by his siblings, Marsha (Michael) Schultz, and Tom (Leslie) Mecozzi; a niece, Jessica (Tim) Doebler, and three nephews, Matthew Schultz, Charles Mecozzi, and Henry Mecozzi; as well as all the members of his Clearbrook family.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Gerene Mecozzi; and grandparents, Nazareno and Margarena Mecozzi, and Virgil and Eileen Chapman.

A celebration of Gregory’s life will be held at a later date, at Clearbrook in Rolling Meadows. DeFiore Funeral Home has been trusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Clearbrook at clearbrook.org.
