Dennis R. Dixon, of Pingree Grove, Illinois passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
He was born on October 27, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Thomas Eugene Dixon Sr. and Marie (Herte) Dixon, the third of five children. He graduated from Waukesha Memorial High School and attended Marquette University. Dennis had a varied work career. Always a hard and skilled worker, he finished his career with many years at Tiger Drylac of St. Charles, Ill., first as the Warehouse foreman and operator and later in sales.
As long ago as high school he was a sharp dresser, handy at anything that needed fixing, always willing to help when asked. With a wonderfully sardonic sense of humor, he was smarter than your average golfer, loyal, well-liked by those who knew him and a caring husband, father, grandfather and uncle He was a great younger brother.
Dennis was a good athlete and played tennis at Catholic Memorial. He was always up for a pick-up game of football or basketball and later in life fell totally in love with (or is it got hooked on?) golf. He belonged to Blackstone Country Club where he played regularly until health concerns brought him up short. He also enjoyed many rounds with his older brother, Tom, whom he rarely beat according to the author.
He had 3 wonderful children from his first marriage - Scott (Rebecca) Dixon, Amy (Tim) Marquardt, and Tim Dixon who are deeply saddened by his passing.
On February 14, 2001, Dennis married Barbara Kolwyck and the couple shared many happy years together. He was a devoted husband, attentive to Barb’s daughters, Kristen (husband, Peter; children, Ally and Anthony) and Kimberly (husband, Robert; children RJ and Ryne), committed to his Catholic faith, and had attained over 30 wonderful years of sobriety as of his passing.
Dennis is survived by his brother Tom Dixon of Madison and sister Nancy Harlfinger of Waukesha and, in addition to his wife, Barb, by his children, Scott (Rebecca) Dixon, Amy (Tim) Marquardt, and Tim Dixon; his stepdaughters, and grandchildren Katelyn, Ethan, Addison, Taylor, Madalyn, Anna, Jordyn, Kayla, Mitch and great grandchild Lyla.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kevin, and a sister, Mary.
He will be dearly missed.

I am so very sorry to learn of your loss, Tom. He sounded like a wonderful brother. Please take care.
So hard to lose your brother. Sorry for your troubles.
Barbara and Tom, So sorry to hear of Dennis's passing. I knew him for many years as a mainstay at the Sunday morning TSW AA meeting in Mount Prospect. Dennis had a lot of great thoughts which he shared with many of us. We will miss him, his humility, and the "sardonic" sense of humor referenced in the obit. Rest in peace, Dennis.
You taught me that slow and steady finishes the race & sometimes even win. Play on through brother. God Bless
He was a good friend of mine> We went through grade school and high school together. And grew together. He was a friend of mine.
