Madeleine J. Barone, 81, of Huntley, died peacefully, December 4, 2024 with her family by her side.
Madeleine was born on November 13, 1943, the daughter of Joseph and Vivian McGuin. On August 6, 1966 she married Salvatore J. Barone. Together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. For many years she ran the school lunch program at Einstein Elementary School. She also ran Madeleine’s Creations and made wedding cakes. She was an amazing baker, and a talented artist, Madeleine put love into everything she created. Her family and grandchildren meant the world to her. She started many family traditions that still go on today, especially the yearly making of the gingerbread cookies with her children and then her grandchildren. Madeleine had a beautiful soul, was a strong woman who was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Salvatore Barone, her children, AnnMarie (Kevin) Murphy, Phillip (Jeninne) Barone, and Michael (Klaudia) Barone, by her fourteen grandchildren, Danny, Sean, Shannon, Nick, Dominic, Lexi, Christopher, Haley, Gianna, Sofia, Anthony, Brooks, Kacper and Luca. Three great grandchildren, Connor Avery, and Mckenzie. Madeleine is also survived by her sisters, Joan Mertinat, Patricia Perreault, by daughter-in-law, Denise Barone Rakas.
Madeleine was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Barone, granddaughter, Julia and brother-in-law, Robert.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 4-7pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church -10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

I had the wonderful privilege of working alongside Madeleine for many years during my time at Einstein Elementary school district 54. She was a strong and caring person. I’m sorry for your loss. I knew Madeleine at Einstein school. I was their school nurse on Tuesday & Thursday for 4 yrs. she & I ate lunch together on those days with enjoyable conversations
My heart is broken
I worked with Madeleine at Einstein for many years and usually had lunch together. She always spoke so lovingly of her family. I saw how devoted she and Sal were to eat other. We had many heart felt conversations and I treasure all of them. We are all blessed to have known such a wonderful woman.
