Hoppensteadt, Barbara Joan (nee Barth) of Sun City, Huntley, IL passed away on December 6, 2024 at the age of 89.

Barb was born and raised in Chicago. She lived in Burlington, WI and McHenry, IL, and a second home in Venice, FL. Barb attended Pilgram Lutheran School, Amundsen High School, and Wright Junior College.
Barb was a die-hard Cub fan and loved going to the games in Milwaukee. She worked at a five and dime store, elevator operator at Wieboldt’s, Illinois Bell Telephone Company, General Adjustment Bureau setting up classes for the adjusters, Zenith Data and Zenith Electronics Corporation, active as a substitute teacher, VBS teacher, choir member, Ladies Guild, Walther League Counselor, Officer in Northern Illinois District, Brownie, Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother, Senior Care Driver, church quilting, Communion Steward and Lead Usher. Entertaining family and friends were especially important to her as she loved to cook and bake.
Her Church family, her devoted ushers, Communion Stewards, and Pastors meant everything to her.

I was Barb & Dons' flower girl at their wedding. Barb was a close family friend who I last visited with in 2023. I will miss our conversations and appreciated her kindness.
My condolences to Jim and Juliann on the passing of their mother, who was my Godmother and always was fondly known to me as Aunt Barbara. For me, visits to Chicago always meant great treats from your mom’s kitchen and fun times playing together in the basement while our parents played cards upstairs.
This kind woman helped me through a really hard time not long ago. Her compassion and kindness will forever be etched in my heart. Barb will be missed by many.
I am so sorry for your loss. She obviously will be missed by many. What a beautiful human being!
Juliann, thank you so much for the phone call today. My deepest sympathy to you, Jim and all of her family. Growing up, your mom never forgot my birthday. In a large family it made me feel special to have a gift come in the mail. I will never forget that. I was so happy to reconnect with her and cherished our visits and phone calls. She will be remembered and missed. A donation in her name is being made to the Edsenophlic Disease Research. God Bless and comfort you
