Romer George Wilsek of Huntley, Illinois passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024.
He was born on March 16, 1937 to Roman and Alice (Wolfe) Wilsek. He married Kathleen Murray in Chicago in 1987. After moving from Galena, Illinois, the couple made Huntley their home for the last 19 years. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Roosevelt University and worked as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Kraft Foods.
While in Galena, Romer served as Secretary and President of the local Rotary. He was a lifelong member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. In his free time, he enjoyed playing Canasta on a team with his wife. Above all, he loved spending time with friends and family, especially during the holidays.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, Romer is survived by his children, Christine Wilsek, Edward Wilsek, Richard (Cathy) Wilsek, Jeffrey Maycan, and Kelly Murphy; seven grandchildren, Steve, Meagan, Caia, Dylan, Adriana and Alexis. Romer was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Paigé.
He was very loved and will be well missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley. A private burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois
In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of his granddaughter Paige.

My mother sent me the news of Romer’s passing. I wanted to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the rest of the family. As I never knew him well, he has always been a presence and part of our extended family. I’ve known him through my mother; it saddens our extended branch of the family and our hearts to hear of his loss. Rest in peace Romer. You are loved!

Kathy we are sorry to hear or your loss. After Working for Romer for many years, he became a good friend and someone I always looked up to and appreciated his guidance and friendship. We are not that far away so please let us know if there is anything we can do.

The day you called i was in shock Kathy, i heard you but ii was not comprehending what you were telling me, it couldn't be possible, not Romer. Kind loving, handsome, generous, caring who adored you Romer. How could it be possible. I am so sorry and send our sympathy to the entire family. I'm sorry my surgery is prohibiting me from being with you. May Romer rest in peace and may your memories carry you through the days ahead. I will be with you in spirit at 10:00 Monday morning..
