Robert “Bob” Eugene McGouey, age 82, of Huntley, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Eugene and Ann Marie (Healy) McGouey. He married Francine Conti on September 4, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York.
Bob was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant during his service. After his return, he began working as a Banker (a career he would continue for over 35 years). After moving from New York, he and Francine spent many years in Schaumburg, where they joined the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The couple made Huntley their home for the last 17 years.
Outside of his work, Bob put his financial and business knowledge to good use by volunteering in the local Del Webb Community. When he wasn’t working or volunteering, he spent much of his free time golfing and traveling with his wife and family all across the globe. Above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Francine; daughters, Heather Kane and Amy “Ann Marie” (Don) Differding; five grandchildren, Dustin (Sarah) Differding, Ryan (Veronica) Differding, Luke Differding, Ethan Kane, and Will Kane; and one great-grandson, Cade Differding.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 1 pm – 4 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home in Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are recommended to the American Cancer Society or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

My heart goes out to you Heather and your entire family at this difficult time. Sending prayers and thinking of you.
I had the pleasure of working with Bob at Sun City and greatly appreciated his candor and point of views. I will personally miss him. What a great man! Hugs to all family and friends.
Francine and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Wishing you peace and strength during this difficult time. I know he will be greatly missed.
Dear Fran, it’s been far too long that so many of us have been completely out of touch, maybe inevitably driven by the courses and imperatives of each of our lives. But today I feel especially badly about this, and not having any current contact info for you, this is the only way I can think to let you know how very sorry I am to hear of Bob’s death from my brother John. I would’ve preferred to speak with you, but for now this will have to suffice. Please know that my thoughts and recollections are with you today. Take care of yourself and your family. Vince
Dear Francine and family, Tom and I were very sorry to hear about Bob’s death. We always enjoyed seeing both of you when we visited Eagans next door. Bob always made us laugh with a remark or a joke. I hope you believe that Bob is on his greatest adventure now. May that thought comfort you as you grieve. Sending healing energy, Maureen
I had the good fortune to work with Bob on the Sun City Finance Committee for several years. Bob approached the work with intelligence, common sense and, most importantly, a terrific sense of humor. His contributions will be greatly missed. Thoughts, prayers and hugs to his family.
Bob was a great friend to me for 20 years now. When I started a business, I would meet with Bob for advice. When business was struggling, I would meet Bob for advice. He was solid as a rock and I could always depend on him for support. I will miss our lunches together. God Bless you Bob. And God Bless you Francine. Peace to you Joe Crimmins
