David

Obituary

David “Dave” W. Keehn, 88, of Winfield, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024.

Born February 12, 1936 in Chicago, the son of John and Marie Keehn graduated from Lane Tech High School. On October 13, 1956 he married Nancy Kenny with whom he raised three children. They enjoyed many trips to Florida together savoring the warm weather and laid-back community.

Dave was a big personality marked by his bellowing laugh and passion for what he knew to be true. His car license plate, “NVR RONG”, was a tremendous source of pride. It was logical that the self-proclaimed “road scholar” marked his car in such a way as he had a keen ability to be able to drive anywhere with his great sense of direction. He knew the city well and was a proud native Chicagoan and an avid Chicago Cubs fan. During his professional years, he worked as a bread distributor for Brownberry Bread Company. Following his retirement, he worked as a shuttle bus driver. His friendly personality allowed him to never know any strangers. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Jerry) Lakomek, and Daniel (Nina) Keehn; by his grandchildren, Lauren, Catherine (Alejandra), Daniel Jr., Joseph, and Samantha; by his sister, Diane Keehn (Bill Clanton); and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Karen; great-grandson, Kyle; brothers, Paul and John; and sister, Kathleen.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home located at 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
