Henry F. Albertz, 87, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1937, in Chicago to Henry and Fontella (Moore) Albertz. Henry, known as “Hank” to his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Park and lived in his family home all his life. After attending William Howard Taft High School, he worked for five decades in the film and printing industries. He married his beloved Darlene (Elliot) on November 26, 1960, who preceded him in death in 2010. Hank enjoyed gardening, playing cards, puzzles, and spending time with his family. Hank is survived by his children Brian (Tina) Albertz, April (Mark) Johnson, Jeffrey (Anne) Albertz, and Amy (David) Witter; grandchildren Brian (Jillian) Albertz, Jacquelyn Albertz, Elizabeth (Jordan) Wagner, Joshua (Monica) Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Ashley (Asa) Sipe, Emily (Chance) Seger, and Joseph Albertz; great-grandchildren Jackson Ray Cedar and Dietrich Wagner, Carmelino and Winifred Johnson, and Nathanael and Harper Sipe; siblings Judy Ethridge, Ruth Ann O’Connell, Grace Carlson, and Jane Hiles. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings; Lorraine Albertz, Melvin Albertz, and James Albertz. A celebration of life will be held at DeFiore Funeral Home in Huntley, IL on January 25th from 1:00-3:00PM with prayer service starting at 2:30PM.
