William R. Gagne

Obituary

William R. Gagne, 86, of Algonquin, died peacefully, January 19, 2025 with his family by his side.
William was born November 30, 1938, the son of Almanzer and Lillian (Glotcki) Gagne. He served in the United States Army. On June 24, 1961 he married his high school sweetheart, Jean M. Arcaroli. He worked as a union electrician (IBEW-Local 701) until his retirement. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and he played softball until he was 75 years old. He coached his boys in all sports when they were growing up. He and Jean enjoyed their favorite place Sarasota, Florida. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, his children, Brian (Dina) Gagne, Beth (Scott) Wulff, Billy (Vivian) Gagne, Bobby (Karen) Gagne and Johnny (Carla Cassaro) Gagne, by his grandchildren, Michael (Kerry), Zachary (Danielle), Matthew, McKenzie (Trent), Emily (Billy), Johnny, Max, Briana, Sam, and Jake, by his great grandchildren, Tatum, Fallon, Paxton and Bennett. He is also survived by his brother, Almanzer Gagne. William was preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters, Dolores and Claudette.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Second visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, from Noon until the time of the 1pm Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We spent many great times together watching our families grow up. Our special times in Florida will always be something we will always cherish. Playing along side Bill for many years on the softball diamond was special! God Bless Bill, Jean and the entire Gagne family. Rest in Peace Bill!
