Nicholas Amatore Dinatale

Obituary

Nicholas Amatore Dinatale joined his beloved Mary in heaven on January 25, 2025. Born on February 26, 1939, the fourth child and only son, to Francesco and Philomena (Cinquino).

Nick grew up on Chicago's westside, loving cars and earning the nickname "Chocolate" by his friends because he loved chocolate sodas and ice cream.

He first met his future wife (Mary DiGuilio) at camp as kids. After completing his service with the US Navy and keeping his promise to write every day, they were married on April 8, 1961. He was never "corn-fused" about his choice of bride.

In 1967, they were the first family members to move to Addison. After 38 years, they made the big decision to move to Huntley. As in Addison, Mary and Nick created an additional circle of wonderful friendships at Del Webb.

Nick loved family get-togethers and dancing with Mary (or the kitchen broom). He liked watching all different sports on TV and was a big fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. For decades, Nick enjoyed Florida vacations and sunsets with family. He loved music especially Barbra Streisand, Abba and Andrea Bocelli and making Italian treats: olives, limoncello and homemade wine.

Mary often marveled to Nick about the legacy they lovingly created together: daughters, Phyllis (Scott) Magnuson and Nancy Infusino, and son, Frank (Jackie) DiNatale; grandchildren, Maria (Jonathan) Scianna, Nicole (Kevin) Bergquist, Dina (Bill) Costello, Tyler Magnuson, Robert (RJ) Infusino, Madeline DiNatale, Alec Magnuson and Jacqueline DiNatale; great-grandchildren, Charlie Bergquist, Austin Scianna, Hailey Bergquist, Ava Scianna and Eleanor Costello. He is survived by his older sisters Lucy Campanelli and Carmen Lonigro, and many special nieces, nephews, godchildren, and good friends. Proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, his sister Concetta Lonigro, nephews Tonio Lonigro and Mark Campanelli.

The family is very grateful for the kind and heartfelt care provided by caregiver Gina during the last months of his life.

We were so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. He and Mary were great neighbors and were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood. After Mary passed, Nick invited us over for dinner one night and he said that was what Mary would want him to do. He shared some of his prized olives and limoncello. Our regrets that we can not attend his services as we will be out of town. Please accept our prayers and heartfelt sympathy.

So sorry to hear about your father Frank. He definitely had great taste in music with Barbara Striesand. Comfort to you and the family.
