Anna A. Borkowski, 80, of Huntley, Illinois passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025.
She was born on February 21, 1944 in Germany to Gregory and Maria (Petryshyn) Kulakewicz, who at the time were immigrating to the US from Ukraine. She married Alexander Borkowski on July 6, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. The couple spent many years together on the Northwest Side of the city and were members of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Anna’s favorite pastime was shopping. She worked as a full-time Administrator for several companies throughout her life, but also moonlighted at Carson’s Department Store for over 20 years. During that time, she made excellent use of her employee discount.
Anna was a devoted grandmother who went above and beyond for her grandchildren. She was deeply proud of her Ukrainian heritage. She often made traditional recipes, like pierogies on Christmas and a Ukrainian breakfast on Easter. Anna held a great love of animals, especially her two pet birds. Her generous and giving spirit was felt by all who met her. She will be deeply missed.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Diane (William) Tanke and Lisa (Carlos) Flores; her grandchildren, Samantha Tanke, Michael (Emma) Tanke, Jack Tanke, Hanna Flores (Angel Rivera), and Taylor Flores; and her great-grandson, Colton Michael.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
