Marilyn Harriet Paul

Obituary

Marilyn Harriet Paul, 92, of Huntley, died Monday, January 27, 2025 with her family by her side.

She was born December 5, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles and Mary (Rhodes) Stetcher. She married Henry F. Paul. The couple shared many happy years together before his passing on February 1, 1981.

Marilyn held many different jobs throughout her life, including secretarial work at the American Dry Milk Institute, serving many customers at her local Jewel-Osco, and banquet catering at Mr. Peters. But the job she enjoyed most was being a wife and mother to her family.

Marilyn later moved to Huntley, where she would reside for the last four years. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a social butterfly and was known for her caring and upbeat nature. Her loved ones described her as a “kid at heart” with a penchant for practical jokes. Whether cheering on the Cubs or spending time with family, Marilyn knew how to have fun and live life to the fullest. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Catherine (Charles) Leach, John (Elizabeth) Paul, Kenneth J. (Sue) Paul, and Debra L. Klabisch; her daughter-in-law, Natalie (the late Henry) Paul; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Jenny), Tricia (James), Cherilyn (Norm), Steven (Lisa), Megan (Steve), Sandy, and Sean; and ten great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by two sons, Henry C. Paul and Ronald E. Paul; and her siblings, Edward C. Stetcher and Carol Pruitt.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 9am until time of Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church -10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

So sorry to hear of the passing of such a great lady. I worked with her at Jewel for 10 years and she was a joy to work with and all the customer’s loved her. She never turned down any task that was given to her even helping clean the deli case she was a good window washer. She will be greatly missed but still be in our hearts and fond memories. She will now be joined together with her family that passed before her along with Jack Brickhouse and Harry Carey announcing the Cub games from the skybox in the sky and watching the Cubs from her personal skybox seat in the sky. Go Cubs go. May you rest in peace Marilyn. Love, Diane and Bob Shaw Punta Gorda, Fl

I met Marilyn and her family a few weeks after my dad was admitted at Alden July of 2021. We were crossing paths in the antrium and we all introduced ourselves. I told dad this is Marilyn and he said in his country accent, " Well I'll be! It's Miss Marilyn Monroe!!" We had 2 1/2 years of helping each other, having fun where we could. I love her competitive spirit when Dad and her played bags and bocce ball in the hall! She also must of had the inside skinny on horses too as she picked the long shot to win in my Kentucky Derby party and WON! What an exciting race! We talked often and she told me her favorite drink was a slinger and her fun times with her girlfriends. I believe God puts us all where we need to be and God put Marilyn across the hall from my Dad. She would tell me she would press her call button when Dad could not find his. I told her she was the inside girl watching over dad and all the residents. She was truly my angel and friend. 💗 I will cherish our memories all the days of my life, Miss Marilyn Monroe!! I was honored to know you, privileged to be able to say, “see you later!”, before you got your wings! Loads of hugs and love to the family and may they know she truly is a peace in the hand of our lord and savior! Corena

I have known Marilyn since we were in 4th grade when we became friends at Immaculate Conception Grade School in Chicago. We have so many memories from there and on to St.Patrick Academy High School in DesPlaines, IL. About 10 of us girls remained friends after high school throughout our married lives. When we were empty nesters we met for lunch, traveled some and went on weekly trips to Wisconsin where one of the gals had a cottage. Marilyn was instrumental in making our travel plans and party plans with Arlene sometimes providing entertainment with her being the star. She was our coach for sports that we participated in, our entertainer, jokester, lanner along with her close friend Arlene, and best friend to many of us. You will be missed “Stetch” by me and those who have gone before us who are waiting for you in heaven. Thanks for the memories. Go Cubs Go. Ramona Vandermeir Evans.

I pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Marilyn Paul. In behalf of my wife Gherly, and the nursing staff of Alden Huntley, we express our love and sincere sympathies to the bereaved family. Marilyn was a wonderful and human being who lived her faith and showed her heart to all. May the Lord Jesus comfort you at this time of mourning, and also give you hope because of the Resurrection of our Lord. That in all things God may be glorified.
