Joan E. Ausbury

Obituary

On February 6, 2025, Joan E. Ausbury, 73, of Huntley, died unexpectedly in her home.
Joan was born on June 8, 1951, to the parents of John and Ella Tieman.

Joan had one daughter, Amy Wacker of Huntley. Joan and Amy had the most unbreakable, loving bond that a mother and daughter could have. They traveled together, talked on the phone multiple times a day, talked about the future, and were always planning their next family adventure!

In 1982 Joan started her own business, Cranes & Equipment in Peoria, Illinois with her business partner, Donald Wheeler. Joan worked hard to grow the business into a corporation. Joan received several awards for being a female in a male dominated industry.

After Joan retired, she moved to Huntley so she could be closer to her 2 loving granddaughters, Ella 13 and Mila 10. They were the light of her life and she loved them with all her heart. She lived for taking her granddaughters to Disney, scratching their backs at night while singing “You are my Sunshine”, watching the Hallmark Channel with Mila,”pestering” Ella with her tickles, and making their birthday cakes every year.

Joan was an amazing quilter and volunteered her time at Gazebo Valor Quilters of Huntley making quilts for veterans. She also participated in community service quilting projects at the Sun City Quilters Guild. She loved playing games with her friends each week and making her own quilts with her long arm.

Joan was the most loving mother, YaYa, sister and friend and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Jared) Wacker, her granddaughters, Mila and Ella, and by her brother, Jack Tieman (Diane).

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 4-7pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 1:30pm at St. Mary Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.

My friend, afternoon tea partner, confidante, Kings in the Corner partner and so much more. I will miss so many things about Joan. It was a pleasure living next door to a good friend who had a great sense of humor. The world is a bit less without her in it, as am I. Peace Joan!

I and the entire body of members at the Concrete Foundations Association send our condolances and heart-felt appreciation for the life of Joan. A former member of the Board of Directors and a strong advocate for the industry, it was my privilege to know her, learn from her and work along side her. Joan was vibrant and passionate for her company, the concrete industry and the contractors that her company came to call friends through such simple transactions. She was a pioneering spirit that instituted some of the programs we have today that continue to serve as platforms for the way the best products, equipment and services interact with this Association. Joan left this world a better place as she most certainly has entered the very best place.
