Marilyn Jean White

Obituary

Marilyn Jean White was born on August 28, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Elizabeth Stuart. At age 92, Marilyn passed away gently in Elgin, IL, on Saturday February 15, 2025.
Marilyn met James (Jim) White at work in 1950. They were married on June 6th, 1954 at Visitation Catholic Church in Brooklyn. They had aspirations of moving to Southern California to join some of Marilyn’s family, and so they made the move in 1956. Their first daughter, Karen Jean was born in 1957 in Santa Monica, California, followed by Joyce Lynn in 1960.
Marilyn and Jim enjoyed all that California had to offer in their 32 year stay. Marilyn was the catalyst in planning trips as she was curious to see all that America had to offer. They took their girls on cross country driving trips as well. Many good memories were had by all on those long car rides.
Marilyn was the quintessential homemaker. She was extremely devoted to her family, a true homebody at heart. Marilyn loved music. She and Jim loved to dance. She had many talents, and was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, decorating, Bible study and Bocce Ball.
Upon retirement, Marilyn and Jim moved to Lake Monticello, Virginia to be near their lifelong friends. They spent seven years traveling to many points of interest, including historical sites, battlefields and presidential homes. They also enjoyed boat ownership for the first time, cruising on their pontoon boat around the magnificent Lake Monticello.
As they grew older, Marilyn and Jim moved to the Del Webb community in Huntley, Illinois to be closer to family. They met many wonderful neighbors and friends in their 18 years in Del Webb. Jim passed away in 2018. Marilyn and Jim were married for 64 years. They were true soulmates.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth, her brother, and all six sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Jean Waite and Joyce Lynn Randolph (Matt); five grandchildren, Kristina Waite (Darren Hughes), Danny Waite, Kyle (Rachel) Randolph, Blake (Aimee) Randolph, and Chad (Jenna) Randolph. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Luci and L.J. Hughes, as well as Nolan, Lucas, and Addison Randolph.
Funeral Mass and burial will be private. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
