Victor “Jim” Barron, 89, of Algonquin, died peacefully on February 17, 2025.
Victor was born in Chicago on September 26, 1935 the son of Victor and Minnette (Tittel) Barron. He proudly served in the United States Navy Seabee and built quonset huts He married Joy Bozmansky Barron on February 15, 1958, and together they raised their three children. Jim was instrumental in starting the Del Webb Wood Shop. He was a talented carpenter and wood worker. Jim was a proud member of the local carpenters union. He and Joy enjoyed traveling the world. He was a golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his poker club. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children Gail (Daryl) Nyman, and Vic (Natalie) Barron, his grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Hesford, Lindsay (Jackson) Gregory, and Ethan and Oslo Nyman, his great-grandchildren, Emma, Kara, and his sister, Lynn Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joy and by his brothers, David and Richard.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 20, 2024 from 3-6pm with a service at 5pm all at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

Jim was a dear friend, fellow traveler and woodworker. We enjoyed many happy times with him and Joy. He always spoke lovingly and proudly of his family. Our sincere condolences to you and yours.
