Donald A. Tomasino, 91, of Huntley, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
He was born on July 30, 1933 in Oak Park, Illinois to Dominic and Vlasta (Malina) Tomasino. He married Diane Kadlub in Chicago on May 3, 1958. Donald proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. After their marriage he and his wife settled on Lake Bloomington as their home for 43 years. He truly enjoyed the lake life and small town atmosphere. Donald worked as the Assistant Secretary Treasurer of GTE until his retirement. After moving from Lake Bloomington, he and Diane made Huntley their home for the last 15 years.
Donald loved being around the water. Everything from boating and sailing on his Hobie Cat to fishing with his grandsons. He was a skilled handyman, and often helped others with their projects. He enjoyed taking vacations to Canada, gardening (especially tomatoes), and playing Bridge with friends. He had a penchant for Italian food, although he preferred a good milkshake over anything else. Donald took an active role in the lives of his children and grandchildren always teaching and offering advice on life skills. He lived his life putting family first. Hard work, persistence and strong character defined him as a man. He was well loved and his memory will live on forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Diane Tomasino. Together they had two daughters, Leslie (Mike) Erickson, and Denise (David) Quebbemann. His legacy lives on through his five grandchildren, Donald (Jessica) Erickson, Karl (Kate) Erickson, Alyssa (Tucker) Erickson, Christine (Noel) Crystal, and Gregory (Micaela) Quebbemann; and eight great-grandchildren, Adelyn Erickson, Henry Erickson, Kent Erickson, Kade Erickson, Cooper Erickson, Nathan Crystal, Jacob Crystal, and Mallory Quebbemann.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his two brothers.

Don was a great guy and we loved him (and Diane too) as one of our original "Vineyard Drive" neighbors. Our sympathy to Diane, Leslie, Denise and the entire family. Great memories knowing Don!
