Joanne Jeannie LaCoppola

Obituary

Joanne Jeannie LaCoppola, 74, of Elgin, IL, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Joanne (Arado) Fecarotta. She married Nick Paul LaCoppola on December 17, 1978. The couple moved to Elgin from Edison Park, Illinois in 2021. Nick preceded Joanne in death on May 7, 2024.

The center of Joanne’s world was her family. She was a devoted “sissy” or “Feci” to her siblings. But her greatest joy in life was raising her children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Nane” by her many family members, Joanne was an ever-positive presence in the world. Her bubbly personality was made even more apparent by her constant giggling and smiling. She took great pride in her appearance, and loved making sure her hair, nails, and lipstick were always perfect. She was the definition of a “homemaker,” and loved to keep everything clean and organized. A talented cook, Joanne’s lasagna, homemade gravy and lemon chicken were matched by no one. She had a love of sweets (always accompanied by a nice cup of tea) and enjoyed a good day of shopping. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love, which will last for many years to come. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by her children, Nick (Denise) LaCoppola, Nicole (Justin) Brendel, and Joseph (Andrea) LaCoppola; her former son-in-law, Cory Fanucchi; her siblings, Judge Thomas Fecarotta, Robert Fecarotta, and Rosemarie Rabiola; and seven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A private celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at a later date. DeFiore Funeral Home has been trusted with arrangements.
