Wendell F. Tylka, 96, passed away early Monday, April 29, in his sleep. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores nee Kosek, daughter, Barbara Brown and granddaughter, Claire Brown. He was preceded by his Mother and Father, Anna and Vendilin, and three siblings: Margaret Gill (John); Edward Tylka (Joan) and Florence Hitchcock (Ray). He was a proud 1947 graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep and served two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict. When discharged, he returned to his family print shop as a linotype setter. He enjoyed history, reading maps and poetry. He was an avid square dancer and appeared on the "Jim Moran's, the Courtesy Man" T.V. Barn Dance in the early fifties.
Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and Holy Mass at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 West Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL, Attn: Fr. Scott Donohue.
