Michael Sinnott (Mike), beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12th, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 83 years old.
Born on December 9, 1941, the son of Patrick and Bridie (Nash) Sinnott in Chicago, Illinois. Mike was a proud graduate of DePaul University. He served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for service, discipline and attention to detail.
Mike met the love his life, Toni, while the two worked at Sears – an encounter that sparked a deep and lasting bond. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure and unwavering love.
Mike had a passion for golf, enjoyed travel and spending quality time with his family and friends. Whether on a fairway, exploring new destinations, or simply sharing a good meal and conversation, he brought joy, humor and warmth to every moment. A talented college bowler in his younger years, he remained active and engaged throughout his life.
Above all, Mike was a devoted family man. He was the proud father of Stephanie (Brian Merkel), Aimee Sinnott, cherished grandfather to Megan Emily Merkel. He always offered support, encouragement and was a steadfast presence in their lives. He was also a loving brother to James (deceased) (Joan), and his half-sister, Ella Faye Bandringa, and caring uncle to his nieces and nephews, and many cousins in Ireland, Wales and Scotland. His integrity, humor and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
Mike’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and inspired. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
