Laura Lee (Lynch) Webster, 84, of Lake in the Hills, passed away peacefully at The Heathers on June 29, 2025.
Laura was born on August 2, 1940 in Madisonville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Paul Wright Lynch and Elizabeth (Hayes) Lynch.
She was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School (1958), Christian College in Columbus, MO., (Associate in Arts, 1960), and Murray State College in 1962 with a B.A. and in 1967 with a M.A. in Education, specializing in Library Science. She spent most of her career working in libraries; her last eight years were at Rantoul Township High School Library.
Laura married Kerry Webster on August 18, 1964. Laura and Kerry moved to Rantoul in 1967 where they lived for 50 years. In 2018 they moved north, to be closer to family.
While in Rantoul, Laura played piano and bells at her church for nearly 30 years. After retiring, you could find her scrap-booking, reading, spending time with family, and traveling the world with her husband.
She was preceded in death by both her parents.
Laura is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kerry Webster of Lake in the Hills; daughter Leigh Ann (Tim) Walberg of Algonquin, granddaughter Shayla Walberg of Algonquin, sister-in-law Thelma (James) Howton of Manitou, KY., and niece Tamra Willis of Manitou, KY.
A memorial service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held on July 11, 2025 at 12pm at DeFiore Funeral Home – 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL., with Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm immediately preceding the service. Burial will be at Better Place Forests – Rock River in Oregon, IL and a later date.
The family would like to thank The Heathers Senior Homes, Lake in the Hills, for the phenomenal care of Laura in her last two years of life and Suncrest Hospice for their wonderful care of her at the end.
