Mary Pat Byrne passed away on August 4, 2025, surrounded by family at her home in the Chicago neighborhood of Edgebrook. Mary Pat touched the lives of all she encountered, especially those in her hometown of Edgebrook and her adopted second home of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was full of love and was always ready to offer a hand to anyone she encountered. She held us together through every season in life. She was a deeply spiritual person who found comfort and strength in her faith. She was a talented painter, a practiced yogi, a successful businesswoman, an incredible golfer and the best chef. She continues to inspire us all to celebrate each moment of our lives.
Mary Pat Byrne was the beloved wife of Jim Houy and proud mother to Luna (her beautiful golden doodle), loving sister of Carron (David) Hanley, Catherine M. Byrne, Lawrence (Jennifer) W. Byrne, Jr. and Terrance (Carol) Byrne, and incredible aunt to Jennifer, Laura and Daniel Hanley; Patrick Rocco, Bridget and Sara Bulmer, Thomas, Michael and Anna Byrne; and Audrey and Chloe Byrne.
