Steve Lamberta, 85, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, with his family by his side.
He was born on January 17, 1940, in Sicily, Italy, the son of Giuseppe and Rosalia Lamberta. At the age of 16, Steve came to the United States, carrying deep pride in his Italian heritage. On November 19, 1966, he married Jennie "Chickie" Sperando. The couple made their home in Berwyn, Illinois, where they started their family. In 1972, the family moved to California where they resided for 30 years before moving back to Illinois.
Steve worked as a barber and was affectionately known as “Steve the Barber.” He was big-hearted, devoted to his family, and thoughtful, always giving and wanting others to prosper. A master craftsman, he embodied hard work and boundless energy. He enjoyed racquetball, golf, and spending time at the racetrack. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Chickie Lamberta; his children, Rosalie (Andrew) Connolley and Joseph (Lisa Savaiano) Lamberta; a loving grandfather to Stephanie (Garret), Nicholas, Jenna, Matt (Jessica), Emily, and Nathan (Kate); cherished great grandfather and “Papa” to Wesley, Madelyn, Gabriella, and Nora; and loving brother to Vincenza Trupia, Maria Martino, Tana Clemente, and Joseph Lamberta, and preceded in death by his brother, Biaggio (Josephine) Lamberta.
