Ali R. Caner, 93, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 18, 2025.
He was born on June 2, 1932, in Aydin, Turkey. In his twenties, he made the bold decision to move to the United States to pursue his dreams and went on to earn a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, a testament to his hard work and determination.
On September 7, 1957, Ali married the love of his life, Angela J. Rubino. Together, they created a beautiful world, filled with love, laughter, and mutual devotion. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his family was always his greatest pride. His unwavering commitment to those he loved and his kind heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ali had a passion for gardening, in which he found immense joy. He was also skilled at investing and navigating the financial markets, an interest he pursued with great enthusiasm. His wisdom, work ethic, and generosity touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his children: Joseph Caner, David (Eva) Caner, Chuck (Gloria) Caner, Anne (Peter) Alexander, and Richard (Millie) Caner; his beloved grandchildren: Angela Roxworthy, Shelly (Will) Nash, Scott Alexander, Bryan Alexander, Pavlina (Brandon) Caner, Brooke Alexander, CJ (Taylor) Tremaine, Michael Caner, Nick Caner, Emma Smart, Erin Caner, Colton Caner, and Austin Caner; his beloved great grandchildren: Tomas, Ella and Oliva. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela, and by his siblings.
Visitation and a prayer will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, Illinois.
