Lucia “Lucy “ Parma

Obituary

Lucia “Lucy” Parma, age 82, of Lake in the Hills, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Lucy was born on December 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the cherished daughter of Anthony and Adeline “Lena” Santelli. On May 23, 1964, she married the love of her life, Ralph Parma, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and unwavering devotion.
Known for her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit, Lucy had a heart as beautiful as her smile. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and had an eye for beauty in the everyday. Earlier in her career, she worked as a switchboard operator for the John Plane Company in downtown Chicago, which sparked a lifelong fondness for the city she grew up in.
A remarkable cook and immaculate homemaker, Lucy took great pride in her home and found true happiness in caring for her family. Her greatest joy was being Grandma Lucy to her five beloved grandchildren—whom she affectionately called the “Fabulous 5.” Her love for them was boundless, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Lucy is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ralph Parma; her loving daughters, Lisa (Joe) Napientek and Jeanine (Todd) Niedzwiedz; and her adored grandchildren, Elayna, Reannah, Ryan, Alex, and Jake. She was also fondly known as “Auntie” to her nieces, adored by all of her nephews and many in her extended family. Lucy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A second visitation will be on Friday from 9-10am at Church before Mass.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St.Mary Church-10307 Dundee Road,Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucy’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to her heart.

Lucy will be missed beyond words by anyone that knew her. A second mom to us. She always welcomed you into her home as if you lived there and made sure no one went away hungry or a little something she would sneak to us. Her laugh will be in my memory forever, it was infectious like her smile that lit the room. I am sure she is surrounded in heaven with tons of love. May she rest in peace. Love you Lucy , till we meet again.

My deepest sympathy for the Parma family for the loss of your beautiful wife, mother and grandmother. While I just knew Lucy from Facebook, we had mutual relatives. My Mother's sister Caroline was married to Lucy's Mothers brother Louie. Beautiful family all. Eternal rest, Lucy.

My heart goes out to my Uncle Ralph, cousins, Lisa and Jeanine and their extended family. My aunt Lucy was a wonderful lady who always looked after my brother and I as if we were her own and always took care of us, especially after we first moved into Elmwood Park. A wonderful generous woman who was always willing to help and provide support and love. She will be truly missed.
