Marjorie Short of Huntley formerly of Lake Carroll, Illinois and Glen Ellyn, IL died peacefully Sept 27, 2025. Marge’s smile will be missed by her family and friends.
Marge was born on May 24, 1935, to parents Ella and Fred Wear in Eau Clair, WI. After high school Marge moved to Dallas, TX for a few years and worked for American Airlines as a ticket agent. She moved to Illinois in 1960 and lived in Chicago.
Marge’s brother Fred introduced her to Doug Short of Chicago, Il. Doug and Marge were married in August of 1961 and were true partners in life. Marge was a devoted mother and wife and had 2 children, Kathy and Robert. Marge put her family first and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
While living in Glen Ellyn, Marge was part of the PTA at Abraham Lincoln school. She then began her career as a Travel Agent and brought countless people joy in travel.
In 1986 Marge and Doug became Business Owners together in a distribution and brokerage company, WE Phillips. They were true partners in this successful endeavor.
Marge and Doug then retired to Lake Carroll, IL where they were able to be together to boat, play golf, and be members of the fishing club. Marge was as active with her husband Doug at Trinity Lutheran Church. Marge and Doug were also able to travel which is what they both enjoyed doing together, Russia, Norway, Scotland, Panama Canal and Alaska were some of the highlights. Cruising was also something Marge and Doug loved to do.
Marge loved being a mom, but being a grandma gave her great joy by supporting her grandkids in swimming and track meets, football and basketball.
Marge was proceeded in death by her husband Doug, her brother Fred and her parents
Marge moved to Huntley Springs, Huntly, IL in 2021 and participated in her share of OUI bowling and several bingo and card games with her neighbors.
Marge is survived by her children, Kathy (Rick) Lingenfelser and Robert Short, his grandchildren, Benita and Theresa Dobson, Samantha Morton, and
Jack, Doug and Jim Brooks, by his great grandchildren, Makayla, Brooklyn, Lucas, William, Maxwell, Jaxson and Henry and Adeline.
