Obituary

George A. Lazansky, 93, of Algonquin, IL passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, with his wife, JoAnn, by his side.
Born on June 5, 1932, George was the son of the late George and Lydia (Kanka) Lazansky. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On November 28, 1957, he married JoAnn Zalesky, and together they shared more than 68 happy years of marriage.
A lifelong resident of Algonquin, George was deeply rooted in his community. He was a lifelong, active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin. He was baptized, confirmed, and married in this Church and was a 4th Degree Knight. In the 1980s, he and JoAnn were part of a group of church parishioners who traveled to the Holy Land. His professional career in banking spanned over 30 years with Algonquin State Bank, serving as Vice President and later as a Board Member. George gave selflessly to his community—elected as a village trustee, a founding member of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Ambulance Service, active in the Lion’s Club, Boy Scouts and many other organizations.
George enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs. He was known for his cheerful smile, positive spirit, and kind heart—always ready with a friendly word or warm laugh. I served with George in Bad Aibling, Germany in the early 50's as members of the 328th Com./Recon. Co which was part of the Army Security Agency. We formed a Reunion group in 1989 and held annual reunions through 2017. I continue to keep the records for our group and will notify them of George's passing. My prayers will be with the family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace George.
