Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and steadfast hope in Christ’s promise of eternal life that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Vidyasagar Perumala, who went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2025, in Melrose Park, Illinois. He was surrounded by his loving family as he peacefully surrendered to his Heavenly Father.
Born on November 21, 1956, in Bellampally, Adilabad District, India, Vidyasagar was the cherished son of John S. Bunyan Perumala and Kamala Katta. He attended Wesley Boys High School in Secunderabad, where he studied in the hostel, and later graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from JNTU College. He began his professional career as a Civil Engineer with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in Telecommunications under the Government of India.
On June 29, 1983, Vidyasagar married Sheila Rani Thalluri, and together they built a marriage of 42 years, filled with love, perseverance, and faith. They were blessed with three children: Sushma Perumala (eldest), Pramod Perumala (middle), and Shamitha Perumala (youngest).
In January 1988, Vidyasagar migrated to the United States, embracing the challenges of immigrant life with unwavering determination. He worked various jobs to support his family—first settling in Phoenix, Arizona, then New York, before returning to Phoenix to work for the DMV. In 1994, he returned to India to reunite with his family, celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary and showering his children with love and joy.
Vidyasagar later returned to the U.S., settling in Sacramento, CA, from 1995 to 2000, where he worked at Zytec Company and bought his first home in 1999. In July 2000, Vidyasagar and his family relocated to Chicago, Illinois, eventually settling in Lake in the Hills, IL, where they lived for the past 22 years. Vidyasagar and Sheila welcomed their third child, Shamitha Perumala, on November 30, 2003. In October 2021, he proudly became a U.S. citizen.
Vidyasagar served faithfully as a Civil Engineer for over 25 years, most recently as a Senior Construction Engineer at SQN Associates. Among his many accomplishments, he contributed to the McCormick Place Convention Center project in Chicago, where his name remains engraved—a lasting testament to his dedication and excellence in his field.
Beyond his professional achievements, Vidyasagar was known for his camaraderie and radiant personality. He had a remarkable gift for maintaining lifelong relationships—always keeping in touch with friends, family, and colleagues around the world. His joyful spirit and laughter could light up any gathering, and he was often the heart of every celebration. Wherever he went, he carried warmth, humor, and a genuine connection that made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
Obituary
He lived a healthy, active life and showed no signs of weakness. However, on September 30, 2025, he suddenly collapsed at his workplace and was admitted to the hospital in Melrose Park. After 23 days of care and prayer, he peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2025.
A man of faith and prayer, Vidyasagar lived out the words of the apostle Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7
In every season—whether in plenty or in trial—he trusted in the Lord’s sovereignty, walked in kindness, and extended grace to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Rani Thalluri; his children, Sushma Perumala, Pramod Perumala, and Shamitha Perumala; his grandson, Arnan-Raj Charles; his son-in-law, Daniel Charles; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Vazraleela Thalluri; his two sisters and brothers-in-law; his brother; his sisters-in-law and co-brothers; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, all of whom will forever cherish his gentle strength, generosity, and unwavering faith.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
