Sally M. Janz, 85, of Hampshire, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, with her family by her side.
Born on April 2, 1940, in Elgin, Sally was the daughter of John and Helen Sinko. On July 13, 1968, she married the love of her life, Gordon Janz, after the two first met while working at the Shell station on the south end of Elgin. Sally worked at Romar Plastics and later devoted 20 years to the Kane County Extension Office.
Sally was the proud mom of two daughters, Kim Janz and Stacy (Martin) Nilsen. She adored her granddaughter, Allyson (Eric) Smalley, and delighted in her two grand-pups, Luna and Gracie.
A gifted maker with a generous spirit, Sally enjoyed quilting, sewing, cross-stitching, knitting, and gardening. She was an amazing cook who loved entertaining family and friends. She will be remembered for her gorgeous handmade quilts, lovely flower gardens, and the countless homemade dishes that brought people together. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sally is also survived by her nieces and nephews Debbie (Steve) Udell, Terrie (Scott) Metz, Tonya (Ray) Orist, Todd Sinko, Debbie (Tom) Olesen, Boeker, Cheryl Olesen, Peter (Judy) Olesen, and Kathy (Lois) Olesen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; and her brothers, Wilbur and Wally Sinko.
Services
Visitation will be held November 7 from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m., all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
