Margaret “Marge” F. Hakes, of Huntley, passed away peacefully December 7, 2025. Marge was born in Chicago on July 29, 1943 to Frank and Margaret (nee McCormick) DiNovo. In 1962 she married Robert Hakes and together they had three sons, Robert, Timothy and William.
Margaret was known by her family and all that knew her as always being very neat and keeping everything in order. Shopping was a favorite pastime loved by Margaret; she always looked forward to an opportunity to shop. She loved and appreciated so much the chance to acquire special items that she admired.
She especially loved her extensive collections of the Italian sculptor Guiseppe Armani, and Hummel porcelain figurines, simply referred to as Hummels. She loved the collection and showing and displaying them for others.
Margaret is survived by her beloved sons, Timothy ( Elena ) Hakes, William “Billy” Hakes, her adoring grandchildren Monica, Josh, and Alex Hakes, Samantha and Catrina Hakes, great grandchildren Jade and Noah Hakes. She is also survived by her brother Thomas “Tommy” (Prospera) DiNovo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert, her granddaughter, Jessica, her sister, Mary, and her brother, Frankie.
A Memorial Service will take place Monday December 15, from 1-4 pm, at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley with a Prayer service starting at 2:30 pm.
