Lynda Brown

Obituary

Lynda was born in Chicago and raised in Elmhurst, IL. She attended York High School then Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. She met and married her husband, Don, in Colorado Springs and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Later they moved to Tucson, AZ where she continued to teach. After that they moved to Nashville, TN where their two children, Stephen and Natalie, were born.
In 1971 Lynda and Don moved to Stillwater, OK. After taking several years to raise their children, Lynda returned to work as a court bailiff with the Payne County Courts. They lived here until Don retired in 2002. After retirement, they moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Lynda especially loved the mountains, and how the natural lighting could make them look different every day.
Lynda was a lifelong artist, who drew and painted, made stained glass works, and jewelry. As a teen she even attended classes at the Art Institute of Chicago for fashion design. But she found her true passion for pottery while in Stillwater. She made pottery for over 30 years and was even able to study pottery and learn new techniques from artists while she lived abroad.
Lynda and Don loved to travel and learn about different cultures and art. They lived a year each in New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. They also made multiple trips to Europe, South America, Aisa, and Polynesia, and traveled around the western part of the US.
Lynda and Don moved to Huntly, IL in 2019.
