Geraldine E. Moskovitz (“Gerri”), 81, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at her home.
Geraldine was born on November 21, 1944, the daughter of Rudolph and Catherine Wertepny. A remarkable and accomplished businesswoman, Gerri was a true trailblazer who broke barriers and shattered the glass ceiling in the transportation and trucking industry. She built an impressive career, serving as Vice President and later as Chief Executive Officer of a large transportation company, earning the respect of colleagues throughout the industry.
Beyond her professional achievements, Gerri was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and GiGi, and a cherished friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Gerri enjoyed spending time socializing with her neighbors, playing Mahjong, and traveling with her beloved late husband, Stuart.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Josephine) Kabat and Lucia (Scott) Irwin; her grandchildren, Randy Skeel, Joshua Kabat, Katie DeBord, Samantha Karkut, Dustin Irwin, Scott Irwin Jr., and Kristen Schneider; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Caroline Olson; her brother, Rudolph Wertepny; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Moskovitz, and her grandson, Thomas Cristofaro.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m., all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Urn burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
