Joseph Gwozdz, 85 of Huntley Sun City died peacefully at his home December 23, 2013.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Friday at St. Mary Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Visitation will be at Church from 9:300 until 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
Joseph was born August 24, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Joseph and Mary (Baran) Gwozdz. He served in the United States Army. In 1957 he married Arlene Schigley. He owned and operated his own bar and later was in liquor sales. He was the treasurer for the Arcadia Home Owner’s Association. Joseph was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, his children Mary Gwozdz, Jeannie Keyzer, Joseph (Susan) Gwozdz, Sandy (Spiro) Karidas, and Jackie (Pat) Ryan. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
