Obituary

George E. Flinn Sr., 88, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He was born on June 20, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois.

George was the beloved husband of the late Joan Flinn (Schwarz), with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and family.

He was a loving father to Laura (the late Rich) Sullivan, George (Mary) Flinn Jr., Terri (Tom) Kolner, Diane (Dave) Conrad, Tom Flinn, and Karyn (Christopher) Thompson, and brother to Joan Siavelis. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

George was preceded in death by his son, John Flinn; his mother, LouEllen Schwichow; his father, George Flinn; and his stepfather, Clifford Schwichow.

George spent his career in the printing industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed fishing whenever he could. A lifelong Chicago sports fan, he loyally cheered for all Chicago teams except the White Sox.

He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved pugs, Mulligan and Ernie, who were constant companions.

Above all else, George loved his family. His warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, Illinois.
