
Bernard “Bernie” J. Paniak, 82, of Algonquin, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at JourneyCare Hospice.
Born on July 18, 1943, in Chicago, he was the son of Joseph and Victoria Paniak. He graduated from DePaul University and later earned a master’s degree in economics. Bernie served in the United States Army and, on July 22, 1972, married his wife, Susan.
He worked in marketing research at AT&T before becoming a financial planner. Bernie was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and a Knight of Columbus.
He is survived by his son, Ronald (Kelly) Paniak; his cherished grandchildren, Maya, Lucas, and Shane; and his brother, Walt (Diane) Paniak. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and siblings Richard, Edward, Leonard, and Josephine.
Funeral services will be private.

So sorry to hear of hear of Bernie's passing.. Knew Bernie from Childhood in the old hood.He was well liked and respected. I will miss him.

Bernie will be greatly missed. He was a gift to our parish and KofC council. May he enjoy the Beatific Vision today and for all eternity.
