Ismael C. Robledo

Obituary

Ismael C. Robledo, 91, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Ismael was born October 7, 1934 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, the son of Alvaro and Segunda (Robledo) Caraballo.
Ismael began life with a humble beginning in Puerto Rico. He married the love of his life, Frances Pagan on July 24, 1954 in Chicago and they were happily married for 71 years. He owned and operated his own clothing store, Robledo Style Shop and his strong work ethic allowed him to be a provider for his family and put all of his children through school. He always enjoyed a good baseball game, especially when rooting on the Chicago White Sox. Ismael also enjoyed spending time dancing, whether at the Aragon Ballroom or in his garage at a family party. He wouldn’t pass up a good game of poker or dominoes when the opportunity presented itself. He enjoyed eating shrimp with a margarita or a good glass of J&B. Most of all, Ismael was proud of his family and all that they have accomplished in life.
Ismael is survived by his loving wife Frances Robledo; children, Yolanda (Holland) Schlutz, Debby (David) Papworth, Frances (Gregory) Ward, and Ismael Jr. (Cathy) Robledo; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Marissa, Alyssa, Nadia, Michael, Kyle, and Karly; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Isabel Blanco, Luis Caraballo, Alvaro Caraballo, Alejo Caraballo, Carmelito Caraballo, and Aurelio Caraballo.

My Godfather (Padrino) was always there for me. I loved spending time with him growing up, and getting together at his home for celebrations. He was, and continues to be, very dear to me. I will never forget, when I was growing up, he and my Godmother (Madrina) Frances always made sure I had a warm coat every winter. I will miss you, Padrino. You will always be in my heart….
